About the Author
Mary Johnston (1870–1936) was an American novelist and champion of women’s rights. She wrote a number of popular novels, including To Have and to Hold, that combined elements of romance and history. A staunch advocate for the advancement of women, Johnston used her success to fight for women’s suffrage.

Grant in two places at once

Grant was not only taking Vicksburg but he was also defeating Lee at Gettysburg on July 3rd 1863. The North was lucky to have such a General who could be in two places at once..

This is an awesome read. I love history, especially civil war era. I do not like romance books or fiction. This is a great book and actually I am reading it again.

Love this story even though the battle descriptions got to be very wordy. That was the style and it does give a real description of the areas and what the war did to them and the people.
